Shampooing, done slightly better

You would temme “what I can supposedly doing wrong shampooing my hair which I have been doing since years it isn’t a rocket science Dwyessh!”

I would say offcource you are not doing it wrong but just need to do it slightly better.

Firstly with so many varieties available, which one should I really use? No worries, the shampoo priority is according to your scalp whether it’s dry or oily to see what clarifying power your would need! Then the second priority of hair, that could be anything color fading, dryness, damage, frizziness. Then comes the brands! Yes with so many competitors out there evry stylist must be suggesting his one! Which is not wrong but will tell u a secret, No brand is wrong or right just suits someone or doesn’t ! I have seen Rs50 Shampoo aslo working for someone as well as Rs5000. So to get the right shampoo brand might take few tries but more important is to choose right type of shampoo that we will see ahead!

You must be thinking, you know what my hairdresser enforces me always buy a professional shampoo! What’s difference between a professional and consumer range shampoo if same brands are manufacturing it? °Moreover, the ingredients might be similar, sometimes the technologies might be also similar but the huge gap in prizing is because of the concentration of ingredients. °As well as to make consumer range shampoo work more efficient companies use direct or derivatives of silicon in slightly higher quantity to make is feel much more lush and smooth in that one use itself but that doesn’t mean they are bad! Just would love to see u to check for that high mineral, silicon contents camouflaging the problem not solving it. If a brand works for you and have been using it for sometime don’t change it just go for a lower concentration one.

Sulphate or sulphate free? Sulphate is nothing but the cleansing agent in the shampoo if you see behind it must be Sodium laureth sulfate In the age of keratins, the new term being sulphate free came into existance. You can use both, coz none of them are wrong but the very milder substitutes like suffocates, decyl glucoside or coco glucoside being used to improve technologies and reduce the friction on hair. Some of your might find sulphate free shampoos don’t latter that well that’s true bcoz they have less cleansing agents but that doesn’t mean its not cleansing.

Now Let’s dig into how to latter up that shampoo:

Firstly wet your hair appropriately, take just a coin size of shampoo. Pro tip* over shampoo would leave residue and tangle up the hair! Some people dilute the shampoo and put water over scalp, but I prefer use your fingers to just apply shampoo all around the scalp only. *whatever method used but try to keep the shampoo only till the scalp. Den gently use your fingers in circular motion to lather it up. *keep on adding few drops of water to boost lathering and make the process faster. After the lather is formed through the scalp use thumbs with little pressure in a Zig zag manner to remove all the previous buildup. *don’t go crazy or remove your frustration on scalp! Be gentle! Now it’s time to take some more water and bring down the lather to the tresses. *our tresses are hydrophobic, they don’t like water and soap as it takes away some protein everytime. When we just bring the lather down we are reducing the power of the shampoo to take lesser protein. So remember scalp first and den tresses. The tresses would only need excessive shampoo when it has Product buildup of many days, Artificial Oil, Excessive Environmental residue, Or, if u work near chemicals. When u your pulling down the shampoo lather, always go with the direction of the hair towards gravity not rubbing the hair too vigorously. Rinse slowly with atleast one hand guiding the lather through fingers from scalp to ends, keeping it less tangled. Spread the hair to see if u see some shampoo remaining rinse it further. That tell us either we have used more quantity of shampoo or not rinsed it completely. I hope this helps you all and leave your tresses smoother, healthier and wiser.
